Reading list for the Coronavirus shut-in
So everybody’s at home. Tired of Netflix. Tired of the news. What is there to do?
How about getting lost in a book?
Here is a list of fiction that I’ve found incredibly captivating over the years. Ten books to get lost in. They are not all westerns, but they are generally full of action, contain compelling characters and, most importantly, move fast enough to keep your attention despite what’s happening in the world outside.
So here they are, in no particular order:
Ian McGuire— The North Water
Glendon Swarthout— The Shootist
Alex Garland— The Beach
Elmore Leonard— Valdez is Coming
Cormac McCarthy— No Country for Old Men
John Williams— Butcher’s Crossing
Charles Bukowski— Factotum
Louis L’Amour— Sackett
John Kennedy Toole— A Confederacy of Dunces
Nolan Cordovano— In the West
